ObamaCare ain't nothin' but a bad trip

Well, I read through the story a couple of times and there was obviously some information missing.  The people taken into custody were not identified.  I have to ask; were they employees of the Department of Health and Human Services?  Was Kathleen Sebelius one of those arrested?  I mean, seriously; getting everybody hooked on smack is the only way ObamaCare (I won't call that the PPACA, because every word of that title is a lie) could possibly work.  The only way the Administration could make Americans forget about how badly they are getting screwed by ObamaCare is to get them hooked on smack.  It would definitely get their minds off their soaring health care costs and losing the insurance coverage and doctors they preferred.  This could change the whole face of ObamaCare.  No more worries about jacked up websites, massive rate increases and unworkable mandates on insurance carriers.  All HHS has to do is set up public shooting galleries and needle exchanges around the country.  That shouldn't be difficult.  There are plenty of recently shuttered businesses throughout the country that could be used for this purpose.  Getting the drugs will probably be cheaper than the cost of the ObamaCare program.  The Obama Administration would likely be able to get discount rates from the Mexican cartels.  After all, they have worked together before, so there should be some sort of customer loyalty program.

A&E takes a principled stand for and against intolerance and making money

Cowardice, hypocrisy and really, really poor business sense.

A&E really had this one planned out well.  They decided to air a show featuring the Robertson family.  The Robertsons are devout evangelical Christians who are fearless in discussing their beliefs.  It was not unexpected that the liberal outrage machine would eventually find something said by some member of the family that would be used to attack their beliefs.  It was going to happen.  You knew it was going to happen.  Liberals cannot stand it when anybody promoting conservative values becomes too popular.  It was inevitable.  So why was A&E so completely unprepared for this?  This had to have been a giant miscalculation, right?.  No business could have handled something so inevitable this poorly. What was their response plan?  A&E immediately caved to complaints from a special interest group that represents maybe 2% of the population.  They indefinitely suspended Phil Robertson for openly and honestly discussing his Christian beliefs (an integral part of the DD show).  What he said was evidently so terrible and intolerant that A&E felt that they could no longer be associated with him.............

......yet they didn't cancel the shows that have featured Phil Robertson.  In fact, A&E is running Duck Dynasty marathons pretty much throughout the holiday season.  I guess that principled stand against intolerance doesn't apply to shows that were already paid for and have advertising already sold.  Hypocrisy much?

A&E's action has launched a firestorm of protest from supporters of the Robertson Family and the concept of free speech.  Just a little hint for A&E.....I think that the pro-Phil, pro-free speech demo is just a wee bit larger than the gays you tried to appease.  The boycott of A&E has begun and it will make the pro-Chick-fil-A action seem tiny in comparison.  Just one of the A&E boycott groups on FaceBook got 1.2 million followers in less than a day.  Good luck selling advertising now, A&E.  Your cowardice has killed the golden goose.

In summary: abandon the principles of freedom of speech upon which your very existence depends, piss off the fans of the most successful reality show on TV to appease a tiny demographic, piss off the tiny demographic with your blatant hypocrisy and lose lots and lots of money.  Good job, guys.

Hell has officially frozen over

Members of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood took time out from their campaign of terror against Coptic Christians to play in the first snowfall to hit Cairo in over 100 years.  They were shivering in their man-dresses as they frolicked in fluffy powder.  Several Brotherhood members joyously made snow angels in the fluffy white stuff, but they were quickly beheaded, because, you know, angels are haram.

Jerusalem was shut down by up to three feet of snow.  Israeli kids laced up their skates, grabbed their Michael Mann-autographed hockey sticks and headed out onto iced over streets for a little pond hockey.

Meanwhile, Palestinian youths didn't let the snowfall interfere with intifada preparations.  They kept their rock-throwing arms in shape by tossing snowballs at police.  The younger children cheerfully built Hamas suicide snowmen.  I wish this were a joke, but.....................

They're Palestinians.  What do you expect.

When an oath of office means nothing

Just a formality.......not an oath sworn before God.

Every government official swears an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States when they take office.  The president of the United States does this and so do the city council members in Seattle.  All throughout our republic we demand that our elected leaders swear an oath to uphold the constitution.  That is what we expect of them, isn't it?  That they obey and support the supreme law of the land.

So I have more than a little bit of anger and disbelief when an avowed Marxist/socialist takes office and swears that oath to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States.  Nobody who believes in the principles of Marxism can possibly uphold the Constitution of the United States.  The two are mutually incompatible.  You simply cannot get there from here.  Either you support the principles of individual liberty and limited government that are enshrined in the Constitution or you do not.  Marxism is the polar opposite of individual liberty and constrained, limited government.

If a Marxist swears an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, that person is lying.
Avowed Marxist, Socialist Alternative Party member and Seattle City Council Member (elect), Kshama Sawant, a will take the oath of office on January 1st, 2014.  Ms. Sawant will swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Charter of the City of Seattle.  I don't know about the Seattle city charter, but when she swears to uphold the Constitution of the United States she will be committing perjury.  She will be lying, under oath, to the citizens of Seattle.  This woman just called for Boeing, Amazon and Microsoft to be nationalized and the homes of Seattle's wealthy to be seized and given to the homeless.  This is not a minor difference in political philosophies or an issue of semantics.  This is a Marxist who has openly advocated actions that are unconstitutional.  How can she possibly swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States? 


Does this sound like somebody who will support the Constitution of the United States?

Class envy, class warfare, collectivism, anti-business, anti-capitalism, class identity..........Marxism, pure and simple.

You're only fooling the ignorant

Politicians make a great public show of something that is so inconsequential even mentioning it is a waste of time and insults our intelligence.  And in the background they allow the government to go on it's merry way, spending trillions.  Wow, we're going to be responsible in our expenditures on portraits.  Thank you very frakking much.  Now why don't you go and repeal Obamacare?  The government spent hundreds of millions of dollars to create a fatally flawed web site that a business could have put into service for less than a tenth the cost.  You could buy a lot of portraits for that kind of scratch.  How about the $776B in Porkulus spending to satisfy the Keynesian fantasy of kick-starting the economy?  We're not getting that back and it did nothing to end the recession.  We are $17T in debt, have probably $100T in unfunded liabilities, have to borrow 40 cents on every dollar the federal government spends and are printing billions of dollars a year......and this is the only thing that gets bi-partisan support?

This is a cheap PR gesture to appeal to the low-information voters.  They'll see this and think that 'something is being done' to solve our federal spending problem.  Does this tactic actually work?  Are  American voters really this stupid?  Who the Hell am I kidding?  Of course they are.  Obama got elected twice, didn't he?  We are doomed.
