Three thousand American
died on 9/11. There were all sorts of moving tributes and angry vows to stand
up against Islamist terror. Just over two years later the Democrats were
willing to lose the Iraq War if it meant getting rid of George Bush. Americans
got tired of a war that directly affected just a tiny percentage of the
population. Let's just say, they weren't in for the long haul.
All these news paper Rambos and Twitter tough guys with their
"Je suis Charlie" retweets are standing strong today. But where will
they be
five years from now? Are they willing to fight a war that may take decades or
even centuries? Will they still be down for the struggle when it means bombing
targets in a crowded city or 'direct action' against some jihadi? Do they have
any understanding of how a war of this nature must be fought? Will their
resolve fail when we have to waterboard somebody for information, or hold
terrorists indefinitely at Gitmo?
Be sure of this; the
Islamists still hold a grudge about the crusades. They are definitely in it for
the long haul. They will kill themselves just to kill us. They are willing to
do anything necessary to assure their victory.
