As an American, I believe that I have the right to say anything I please.  I don't deliberately offend others.  Rather, I use the rules of polite society to guide my choice of words.  I would never make deliberately insulting or offensive comments about Mormons, Buddhists, Sikhs or Catholics.  They don't attack me so I feel no need to attack them.  If Muslims behaved in the same manner I wouldn't deliberately say anything offensive to them.  But they don't.  Of all the world's major religions there is only one that demands subservience of all the others.  There is only one religion that routinely threatens others.  There is only one religion that spreads by means of intimidation and violence.  There is only one religion that is not willing to coexist peacefully with the others; Islam.  And when Muslims tell me that I must not insult their religion, I am comfortable in telling them to go piss up a rope.  I will not submit to threats.  I will not abandon my right of free speech. 

If you want me to stop deliberately insulting you then fix your religion and culture and come join the rest of us in the civilized world.  Civilized people peacefully discuss and debate their differences.  Savages use threats and violence.  If you cannot live in the civilized world, please feel free to go back to your 7th Century Islamic paradise.

The Hypocrisy of the Progressives

There's this congressman from California who's got all the techno-hipsters swooning because he is fighting a government effort to require back-doors in personal electronic devices that would allow law enforcement agencies to access encrypted private data.  He really gave the hipsters some serious wood with his impassioned remarks about privacy;

 "just follow the damned Constitution."  

That's great.  Good for him.  I'm glad anytime somebody fights for our 4th Amendment rights.  He went on to say 

"And that's why our founders put in the Constitution of the United States—that's why they put in the Fourth Amendment. Because they understand that an Orwellian overreaching federal government is one of the most dangerous things that this world can have."   

There's just one little problem with Representative Lieu's heartfelt defense of the Constitution.  Like all progressives, he's only worried about defending those parts of the Constitution that will advance his leftist ideology.  He doesn't give a rat's ass about the 2nd Amendment.  His record of promoting extreme gun control measures shows that.  And, being that he is a progressive, he tends to ignore the fact that the Constitution is all about LIMITATIONS on the power of government.  Like all progressives, he wants to expand the size of the government and give it powers never dreamed of by the men who wrote the Constitution.  The federal government dictating to private citizens that they must purchase health care insurance......he's all for that.  Limit free speech by overturning Citizen's United....sure.  The government ordering religious institutions to engage in actions that are in direct contravention to their beliefs....yep, Ted wants that too.  I guess he never read the 1st or 10th Amendments either.  He supported Obama's executive amnesty, which overrode the powers granted to Congress by Article I, Section 8.  I guess he just skipped past that part too.  

Progressives love to say that the Constitution is a 'living, breathing' document, that can be altered as needed to adapt to the current situation progressive political agenda.  They don't even need the consent of the governed to change the Constitution to suit their purposes; they just get some activist judges to create new law on the fly.  That's not the intent of the Constitution.   It is supposed to be the bedrock foundation upon which our laws rest.  The founding fathers deliberately made it difficult to alter the Constitution.  They specifically did that to protect us from the tyranny of the majority and an all-powerful state.  But that is exactly what is at the heart of the progressive movement; an all-powerful federal government run by an unelected bureaucracy. 

I've got a little bit of advice for you, Ted.  Just follow the damned Constitution!

You can't call 'em thugs.  You really can't call 'em thugz.

Obama's in hot water with the race outrage industry and its demented allies, the social justice warriors.  Even though the progressives have been touting Obama as the first black president, evidently he is now only half black.  That means his other half is white.....and that half is RACIST!  While the black half was out on the golf course, Obama's racist white half ran up to the microphones and started making racist statements about the violent thugs in Baltimore who are using the death of a black man as an excuse to riot and loot.  Yes, it is thuggish behavior, but you can't call it that.  By calling them thugs you are ignoring their legitimate grievances against CVS and other local businesses.  Oh, and don't forget the cars and other property belonging to local residents.  They must have had serious, legitimate grievances against that stuff too.  By calling them thugs for committing violent acts of destruction against public and private property, you harm their self-esteem, marginalize their grievances, disenfranchise their voices and ignore the tyranny of the white patriarchy, or something like that.  Whatever; you just can't call 'em thugs.

 I know it's hard to tell from that picture.  It looks as though her skin is a little lighter shade of not-completely-black than Obama's.  But according to MSNBC's Alex Wagner, Mayor Rawlings-Let-Them-Loot-Blake is a black woman.  Huh???.  The only difference that I know of is that Mayor Rawlings-Let-Them-Loot-Blake went groveling before the black outrage industry and recanted her description of the rioters as thugs.  I guess that supplication before the grievance mongers eliminated her white half (possible 63%....it's hard to tell).  I guess we'll have to ask the whiter-than-marshmallow-fluff Alex Wagner for a ruling on that.*

Leftists don't even try to make sense anymore.  They live in a fantasy world where facts no longer matter.  When reality refuses to comply with their Utopian fantasy, they must change reality.  They twist the language to alter the truth.  They ignore what is plainly evident to any objective observer to provide the outcome that they want.  The only thing that matters to Leftists is that, when all is said and done, they feel good about themselves.

The destruction we are seeing in Baltimore is the direct result of decades of Progressive single-party rule.  None of the blame can be placed anywhere but the Left.  This is what happens when you have nearly unchecked rule by people who refuse to accept reality and are absolutely convinced of their own moral and intellectual superiority.




* Before you express your righteous indignation over my comments, take a listen to the absurdity of Alex Wagner's statement.  She and others in the progressive mainstream media have been using Obama's 'blackness' to protect him from any criticism for 7 years.  They gloried in the ascendency of a black president.  They cheered his triumphal entry into Washington as the beginning of a port-racial America (funny how that turned out, huh?).  And now that he used one word that is not approved by the black outrage industry, he is only half black.  How absurd is it that a man who self-identifies as black, was raised, mentored and educated by Marxist-socialists and has used his skin color to deflect blame for all his actions, is now criticized by the Leftists for being half-white.  Can Alex Wagner possibly be THAT racist that she thinks a little mixed-race DNA affects his actions and beliefs?  She couldn't possibly mean that Obama isn't authentically black because he was raised by a white woman?  Could she?  Well that would just fly in the face of the whole 'first black president' crap that the media has been using as a shield for all of his malfeasance and incompetence.

Jerry Brown launches California on kamikaze mission against the myth of anthropogenic global warming.  Just as with Japan in 1945, this is a misguided gesture, motivated by fanaticism, that will bring much human suffering with absolutely no hope of achieving its objective.  Good luck, California.  Look around and enjoy those ocean views while you plummet down towards your destruction.

Speaking of kamikaze missions, universities are starting to divest from fossil fuel investments.  No understanding of sound financial management.  No fiduciary responsibility to investors.  So......screw it.  Let's just waste our money.  Who cares if our costs skyrocket?  We'll just raise tuition fees.  No big deal.  Government-backed student loans will cover that.  Who cares if the ignorant,brainwashed drones who graduate from your institutions are completely unprepared for life in the real world, saddled with mountains of debt and have no marketable skills that might enable them to pay off those debts?  You've taught them the only important lessons; let Utopian fantasies and emotion guide your actions and ignore the results, no matter how destructive. 

And why is it so vital to fight the scourge of global warming?  If the worst-case scenarios of the global warming alarmists prove correct-and history tells us this is highly unlikely-a projected 1.1% reduction in GDP by the year 2100.  That's it.  The fix will cost far more than that.  The UN-backed solutions would cost tens of trillions in direct costs and untold trillions in indirect costs from suppression of free market activity.  And those costs would not be borne equally across the world.  The Western industrialized nations would pay the lion's share, while the largest polluters, India and China, would not face the same restrictions.  Why is that?  Because this is not about fighting pollution and global warming.  This is about redistribution and forced equality of outcome.  In other words; Marxism.

Adding Insult to Injury

Last week the Obama Administration turned its back on France and the rest of the world.  Sure, it was just a photo op; a phony display of unity and resolve in response to Islamist terror.  The US should have been represented.  But we weren't.  Even though the French haven't always been strong supporters in our war against Islamist terror organizations, we should have made some gesture of support.  Any gesture.

Well, any gesture except a creepy, transparent attempt at damage control.  A week late and several million dollars short.  If this is the attempt to apologize then the Administration shouldn't have bothered.  More detached ineptitude would have been preferable to this goat rope.

If we appeared to turn our back on our allies before, this was turning our back, taking a squat and dropping a deuce on them.  This was embarrassing for the United States and insulting to France and the rest of Europe.  Good luck getting any cooperation from them for the next two years.

Freedom of Speech? Meh

The mainstream news media chooses capitulation

The mainstream news media has collectively decided that freedom of speech is only important when reporting on conservatives or Christians.  They feel perfectly safe in attacking the Catholic Church or Mormons, but seem to lose their backbone when it comes to Muslims.  It is time to accept the fact that they are nothing more than craven partisan hacks with no morals or integrity.  All that happy horse crap they are always spouting about being a vital part of any functioning democracy is a lie.  A news media that collectively lies and creates false realities is as much a danger to democracy as is a lack of a free media.

Next up will be the political 'leaders' tucking tail and rolling over into their submissive positions.

Photo ops don't impress the jihadis.  And when you invite a terrorist to the photo op it kind of nullifies whatever message you were trying to send.  Islamists will only be deterred by force; massive, overwhelming, disproportionate force.

This is How Islam is Spread

This is how Islam spreads. Not with polite young men wearing name tags and ties knocking on your door, but with intimidation, rape and murder. The Koran is not so much a religious document as it is a guide for conquest.

This is not isolated to Nigeria. The same thing is happening right now to non-Muslims throughout all of northern Africa, all the Arab nations, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and the Philippines. And it is spreading to the rest of the world along with Muslim immigration.

France has been experiencing Islamist violence for years. There are Muslim ghettos where civil authority has been ceded to the Muslim immigrants. De facto sharia law is in place in these ghettos. Hundreds of cars are burned in frequent protests. Women are victimized by Muslims. Jews are routinely attacked. The Muslim immigrants use violence and intimidation to cow the native population into concessions. They also use the legal rights afforded them by their adopted country to shield themselves from any criticism. And the self-loathing liberal media, government and education institutions are bending over backwards to help them with their conquest. The liberals like to think they are being generous and open-minded. What they are really doing is just finding excuses to avoid having to fight for the freedoms they enjoy.

It's not just France that is facing this threat. Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Ireland and the UK are already on this path of eventual surrender to Islamists. So is Canada. The United States will also face this threat. We have recently taken in large numbers of Muslim immigrants from Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Nigeria and other Muslim nations. Our Constitution inoculates us to a degree from some of the problems, but not completely. As long as we have liberal multiculturalists who prevent immigrants from assimilating into American culture and apologists who seek to shield Islamists from criticism at all costs, we will be at risk.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words.....or Photo Ops

If you know anything about Leftists, this shouldn't surprise you. And this should also tell you that this event was nothing more than a photo op. None those Euro leaders will do what must be done to protect their people and their culture. The presence of Mahmoud Abbas is ample proof of that. They will continue the appeasement of Islamists and, eventually, Western Europe will be part of the Caliphate and two thousand years of civilization and progress will be lost. Native Europeans will enjoy the lives now experienced by Coptic Christians in Egypt; second class humans whose existence only continues at the will of the Muslims.

The Frankfurt School of Marxist ideology brought us cultural Marxism. Traditional Marxism envisioned that class warfare would bring down the existing order and allow society to be rebuilt into the worker's paradise. In practice, that never materialized except in a few isolated instances. Cultural Marxism pits the various demographic groups within society against the existing social order. The goal is still the same; tear down existing power structures and the establishment of an Earthly Utopia. This ideology is no different than other Utopian fantasies.....except for the violent destruction of existing norms at the start. All Utopian fantasies share one fundamental flaw; that man is somehow perfectible. Man is fundamentally flawed, so any political/cultural ideology that relies on the absolute altruism of man is doomed to failure. If this were just some hippies who want to build a commune out in the woods and pretend that they have created Utopia, it wouldn't be much of a problem. But none of the ideologies derived from Marxism are willing to take like-minded people and go off to create a new society. All Marxist-inspired ideologies want to change the entire society, regardless of the wishes of individuals. This is why there is always a loss of liberty and frequently the loss of life that goes along with the rise of Leftist power. They think they are doing what is best for all of society and whoever refuses to go along with the plan is a threat. So, I guess you could say that Marxism and Islam have that in common.

 

Justification of Cowardice

Mark Steyn's latest piece on the Islamist terror attacks and the response by the politicians and newsmedia is an absolute must read.

That line he quotes from Barbara Amiel's column; "They convert the base notion of being scared into a noble weapon of seeing someone else's point of view." really got me thinking. This behavior of claiming the moral high ground as a justification for appeasement and surrender is nothing new to the Left. They have done this from the end of World War II all the way to the present. The American Left sought to appease the Soviet Union at every turn. Part of this was due to their shared ideology. Both were working for the same goal; just with different tactics. But the Soviets were much more willing to use force to achieve their goal. This scared the American Leftists. They knew that to oppose Soviet expansionism involved danger. Rather than accept that danger as the price of freedom, the American Left came up with any number of justifications for why we should not oppose the Soviets.

This cowardice raised it ugly head again in the Vietnam War. Throughout their entire lives, the baby boomers had enjoyed a standard of living never before seen by any nation on Earth. Their parents struggled through the Great Depression and sacrificed mightily to win World War II. They passed on to to their children world leadership, safety and prosperity. And like spoiled children, the baby boomers ignored the lessons of their parent's sacrifices and thought only of themselves. When came their time to defend freedom and our interests around the world, the baby boomers refused. Evidently their precious asses were more important than the needs of the nation. Oh, they came up with all sorts of moral objections to the war. I guess that's just easier than admitting that you are afraid to fight for your country. So we got lots of books, scholarly papers, movies, poems and songs about the immorality of war and the injustices of fighting non-Caucasians. Anything to justify not having to put themselves in danger.

The Reagan era brought about new heights in rationalizing why we shouldn't confront the Soviet expansionism. Throughout the 70's the Leftists around the free world made all sorts of excuses as to why we should not fight for our freedom. They created all new narratives to support their position; alternate histories, really. Anything to provide some sort of rational for doing nothing to preserve our way of life. As the excuses piled up, so did the nations falling to the scourge of communism. Millions of people around the world had lost their freedom. But the Western youth stayed safe and sound once they retreated up to the moral high ground. Reagan terrified them, because he wasn't willing to appease the Soviets. He knew the dangers of communism and was willing to fight to prevent its spread. The Western Leftists were so invested in their justifications for appeasement, they came to view Reagan as more of a threat than the Soviets. As it turns out, Reagan was right. He challenged the Soviets, using the strength of free markets and free peoples. The communists were unable to match our power and the Soviet empire fell apart.

When it was necessary for us to restore freedom to Kuwait, the American Leftists again came up with rationalizations against military action. New excuses were trotted out. "No blood for oil" was a common refrain. Somehow, the leftists came to the conclusion that fighting for economic necessity was not morally defensible. All industrialized societies are dependent on cheap energy and petrochemicals. That is a fact of life. You can bitch about materialism and consumerism all you want, but it doesn't change the basic facts of life. All the enviro-socialist wet dreams about renewable energy don't help us maintain a modern industrial society. We are dependent on cheap oil. That is a fact. We have to make our energy, national security and foreign policy decisions based on facts; not wishes, hopes and fears.

The rise of the Islamist threat is being met with the same fear and appeasement as the earlier threats of communism. When it comes right down to it, the Left would rather surrender or acquiesce to any foreign threat than have to stand up and fight. Better red than dead was their earlier mantra. Now it appears that they would be willing to pay the Jizziya tax, condemn women to the status of chattel and accept Muslim subjugation to fighting for our freedom. If these craven appeasers remain in power you better learn the shahada. Or maybe we just learn to ignore them and stand up and fight for freedom ourselves.
