This is the blueprint for Obama's America. Every Democrat-controlled city and state is going down the same path as Detroit. The lesson is that you cannot endlessly spend more money than you take in. Eventually the laws of mathematics and economics will come knocking on your door.

The news media is busy blaming the auto industry, the overall economic downturn, the flight of residents.....anything but the true underlying causes. Dann Hannan and Mark Steyn seem to be able to identify the cause, so why is it that the news media can't? Well I guess they have no interest in pointing out that the liberal ideology that they constantly advance inevitably brings about consequences such as we see in Detroit. Liberal policy cannot produce any result except ruin. Punishing the productive elements of the economy, taking their money and giving it to the unproductive members with no demand for results or improvement, excessive regulation that makes businesses noncompetitive, expenditures consistently exceeding revenue and the corrupt, unsustainable pay, benefit and pension rewards for government union employees in exchange for campaign donations and support. If you wanted to design a system to destroy a city, all you have to do is follow the statist playbook.


Cult of personality?

So now all legal decisions must take into account whether the 'honor' the president? WTF? Did the United States just become a third world dictatorship? Note to the Obama cultist masquerading as a judge: President Obama's bailout deal with GM and Chrysler violated all sorts of bankruptcy law and precedent and it was the taxpayers of the United States who had to foot the bill. We will never get back anywhere near what that bailout cost us. And to make matters worse, the only people who came out ahead were Obama's campaign supporters from the UAW. We're supposed to HONOR a dirty backroom deal that rewarded Obama's campaign contributors and cost the taxpayers over $10B?
Detroit is bankrupt because Detroit has been run by tax and spend Democrats for 60 years. This same thing is going to play out all across America for years to come. Government employee unions provide significant campaign funding and support for Democrat politicians who, in turn, provide the unions with unsustainable pay, pension and benefit plans. It is these unfunded pension and benefit liabilities that are driving city, county and state budgets to bankruptcy everywhere, but especially in the blue states. Look at almost every major metropolitan area in the country and you will see the same thing happening. All of these corrupt governments are going to look to the federal government to bail them out. This is a national catastrophe in the making.
