Syrian red lines -The epic tale of Obama's foreign policy dumbf*ckery and his destruction of US credibility.
A quick summary
Step 1. Obama and his foreign policy team completely misread the true nature of the Arab Spring. Administration encouragement of Islamist rebels and abandonment of friendly regimes brings chaos and instability to half of the Arab world.
Step 2. Obama makes an ill-considered statement about red lines for use of chemical weapons in off-teleprompter remarks. The Administration has no realistic plans for military action if the red line is crossed - just more tough talk for style points.
Step 3. Syria crosses the red line; not just once, but twice. Obama blusters ineffectually and is then left flopping and twitching in the breeze as if he were the one doing the Sarin Shuffle.
Step 4. The rest of the free world comes to the realization that Bush may have been an objectionable American cowboy, but he did actually know what the hell he was doing. And in the corollary to this realization, the dictators of the world learn that they can bend Obama over like a prison transsexual and have their way with him. (Oooops. Was that description a little to indelicate? My apologies to any prison transsexuals and Democrats who might resemble that remark.)
Step 5. Vladimir Putin rides in on his brown bear, busts a nut in John Kerry's general direction, saves Assad's bacon (Arrrrrhhh! Haram! Dirka, dirka) and then tells Barack to make him a sandwich.
Euros discover that Obama is an embarrassing amateur
The world news media that hated Bush and was so in love with Obama now realizes the difference between an accomplished statesman and an incompetent fool. It is telling that the American mainstream media has not put aside their Obama-worship. If you want to see objective analysis of American foreign policy you better start looking at the likes of the Mirror, Times of London, al Jazeera, der Spiegel or even a lefty rag like The Guardian. It is sad to say that even The Guardian is able to put aside their very significant liberal bias and report honestly on Obama's failures. You won't see that out of the NYT, WaPo, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and NPR.
Foreign press reminds us of the chummy ties the Obama Administration had with Assad
Oh noes!!!!! John Kerry had dinner with Syria's 'Hitler'!?!?!?!? What could they possibly have to talk about: Is it easier to gas civilians in gas chambers or whith chemical weapons?????
As long as we are looking at the Obama Administration's case for taking unilateral, unauthorized military action against Syria, maybe we should look at their past comments and acts.
In the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama famously said that he would meet with Bashar Assad or Mahmoud Ahmedinejad with no preconditions. Even the other Dems were smart enough to know that the president of the United States doesn't meet with tyrants. Oh well; I guess Obama already knew hew was going to become a petty tyrant and figured he could meet with them on their own level.
And remember then-Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, claiming that Bashar Assad was a moderate? Wow, she really was a totally competent diplomat, wasn't she. Such vision and understanding of international relations and human behavior. She'll make like a totally a awesome president.
Face it. This administration is saturated from top to bottom with incompetents. They are driven by political expediency and a failed ideology. The damage to the prestige of the United States and our relations with our allies and international partners may never be undone.
This is what happens when you vote for Hope and Change. Voting must be an informed act based on facts, not emotion.
Ban Ki-moon gets in on the buggery
After seeing Putin have his way with Obama, Ban Ki-moon decides to get a little piece himself.
Even JCS won't back Obama and Kerry's bluster
It is not good when the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has no idea what the President is hoping to achieve with his strike on Syria. Does anybody really know what the objective is? The Administration has been more than willing to leak all the pertinent details of the proposed strikes. In addition to giving Assad time to disperse the targets to civilian areas, it also shows that the Administration is not really serious about this effort. What they have outlined is insufficient to remove the threat of chemical weapons use. It is not enough to overcome Assad's intense desire to do whatever is necessary to survive. It won't change the balance of power between the combatants. It sure as hell is not enough to accomplish Obama's earlier bold statements that Assad must be driven from power. So what is the real goal? Kerry and Obama have made a lot of lofty, but incoherent claims about protecting the innocent and maintaining international norms; whatever the hell those are. In spite of all the impassioned pleas by hypocrites who attacked George W. Bush for using the same arguments to go to war with Iraq, they have not made the case for what significant national interests are endangered by the domestic use of chemical weapons in Syria. The only thing that is clear is that Obama made ill-advised, unscripted remarks that have come back to show him as a weak, unqualified player on the international stage and now he wants us to take meaningless military action that he thinks will prop up his image. The problem here is that it will quickly become clear for all to see that these strikes are merely for public consumption and will have no meaningful impact on the course of the Syrian civil war or the use of chemical weapons. What then? The whole world will quickly realize that the stated goals were not achieved. What will the thin-skinned narcissist-in-chief do when the world media accurately describes the ineffectiveness of his administration's efforts? Will he be motivated to take more serious action. Boots on the ground? What will he do if Iran and Syria follow through with their threats to attack Israel? What if our strikes kill numerous Syrian civilians? (That will happen. Whether or not they are killed by Tomahawks or Syrian forces, the image of dead civilians will be on the front page of every newspaper on Earth - count on it) What if they attack us directly? What if the Russians decide to challenge us and shoot down the Tomahawks en-route to their Syrian targets? What if.........? What if the Administration hasn't thought these things out? What if they are only motivated by preventing the Obama legacy from being tarnished? We have seen the Administration abuse the Constitution, break federal law, trample the rights of citizens in the name of advancing their agenda. It is telling that Obama and crew are not using facts and reason in their attempt to win over the opposition to strikes on Syria. Instead they are using promises of government pork. More money we don't have to bribe representatives to do something that is not in the best interest of the United States. That shouldn't surprise anybody. Remember the wholesale bribery that accompanied the passage of the stimulus and Obamacare? It is time to contact your representatives and let them know that you are watching their actions and will hold them to account in 2014.
NYT finally realizes that maybe the Syrian rebels are Islamist d!ckheads
After two years of cheer-leading for the mythical Arab Spring, the NYT is finally starting to realize that these conflicts in Arab countries are not the clear-cut battles between good and evil that they have been reporting. While not fully accepting the very strong Islamist influence on the Syrian rebellion, they have at least acknowledged that the atrocities are being committed by both sides. It is just stunning to see the NYT not portraying the Syrian rebels as idealistic, young, technologically savvy, Twitter-using freedom fighters. Obama's feckless 'leadership' and blatant hypocrisy seems to have knocked the world of American progressivism on its head.
WaPo: the professionals in the Pentagon want no part in Obama's totally excellent military misadventure
The incompetent amateurs will drag us into this mess and will then point fingers at the military professionals when things don't work out as they had hoped. Hope and Change don't work to restore an economy and they sure as hell don't make for good foreign policy.
Putin calls Kerry a liar
Well here is a dilemma. Should we believe Putin or Obama and Kerry? That's a tough one. Do we believe an America-hating former KGB officer who has ample reason for undermining the Obama administration? Given his motivation and history,Putin might not seem very trustworthy. But what about the other option? How believable is Obama? Years of lies and obstruction of justice in the Fast and Furious scandal, approaching a year of lies, obfuscation and misdirection on the Benghazi disaster, more lies and obstruction in the IRS and NSA scandals and so much more. Should we believe anything that comes out of the Obama Administration? They have given us no reason to do so. It's sad that we have come to the point where the word of the President of the United States of America means no more than that of the Russian president.
Liberal's Smart Power discredited
Liberals tend to suffer from a superiority complex. They go to the 'best' schools and learn how to think all the correct things, so they convince themselves that they are just naturally smarter than everybody else. This allows them to feel that it is right and proper for them to be able to tell everybody else how to live their lives. They're doing it for our own good, you understand. Liberals also convinced themselves that George Bush caused all the world's problems because he was just a 'dumb' conservative. Once Obama got into power everything would magically be right with the world. All the tyrants and dictators would hear the brilliant and eloquent Barack Hussein Obama speak and they too would swoon and be awestruck, like the liberals in America and Europe. The world would be a better place because the smart people had taken over in Washington..........
Four and a half years of reality later and we see the results. Driven by blind idealism, half-baked, unworkable theories and the naiveté know only to the truly ignorant and academics, they have made a crushing failure of US foreign policy. From the day he took office, Obama has been done nothing but weaken the United States in the eyes of the world. From his insulting our greatest ally days after taking office, to the meaningless Gitmo 'closure' publicity stunt to the grand apology tour to Hillary's 'RESET" fiasco with Russia, it has been nothing but an embarrassing failure. Obama has completely mishandled the Arab Spring, bringing needless chaos and destruction to half the Arab world. He ignored a golden opportunity to support a truly democratic uprising and destabilize Iran. He squandered whatever good was done in Iraq and set a timeline for defeat in Afghanistan. The Obama Administration has repeatedly backed governments that are actively working against US interests and has sabotaged our relations with those who support us. The world today is a far more dangerous, unstable place since the best and brightest that liberal America has to offer began their enlightened reign of smart power. How much more damage will be done in the next three and a half years? How many decades will the world suffer because of the ignorant idealism of these amateurs? How many more will die because of their actions?
NYT goes into damage control mode for Obama
Typical BS from the NYT. Did you notice anywhere where the ISRAELI GOVERNMENT made any sort official statement in support of strikes on Syria. They cited academics, retired officials, media types and one government official who made his statement following Syrian action some time ago and was not endorsed by the Knesset. The NYT is trying to drum up support for the strike, not because it is in the best interest of the United States or Israel, but to restore Obama's image and legacy. Obama's track record of diplomatic and military failures illustrate not just Obama's incompetence, but also the monumental failure of the mainstream media to provide honest, objective reporting to the American people. The media has ignored, rationalized, misrepresented and outright lied to support Obama. Now it is plain for all to see that Obama is an incompetent who has been hiding behind the mainstream media's green curtain.
Red State: Illegitimate states, dubious wars and diplomacy by gaffe
I would never have imagined I'd be thankful for the Russians taking advantage of a weak, ineffectual American government. As sad as that is on some levels, it may have prevented us from starting a war which the Obama Administration would undoubtedly badly mismanage. Obama has done more damage to American foreign policy than just about any president in our history. His failures will haunt us for decades. I never thought I would see a president who would do more damage than Jimmy Carter, but, unfortunately, I have. Carter was rolled by the Soviets on several occasions, allowed several nations to be lost to the scourge of communism and facilitated the rise of dangerous Islamism in Iran. As bad as that was, Obama has done far worse. He encouraged the rise of Islamism throughout North Africa and the Easter Mediterranean. He has allowed Iran to proceed with the development of nuclear weapons, which will surely lead to a nuclear arms race with the Gulf States and pose a real threat to the rest of the world. Obama has damaged our ties with some of our oldest allies and he has shown the world that the United States can't be trusted to support its friends and partners. And we still have more than three years of this incompetence to deal with.

Final thoughts
Erick Erickson at Red State: That speechYay! More speeching from the golden-tongued light worker. The man who could make the world love and respect the United States just through his eloquence. The man whose very speech would cause the worlds oceans to stop their rise and would bring the races together. Yes, more words from the man whose mellifluous voice and stirring rhetoric can overcome all obstacles (as long as the teleprompter is working). Well, it is now apparent that his oratorical skills cannot overcome his incompetence, failed ideology and malignant narcissism. Impeach this miserable failure now.....it's for the children.
