The reason for the Second Amendment

Two great examples to remember when some politician tells you that "you don't need an assault weapon." They are not the ones to decide your self-defense needs. The Second Amendment was created to guarantee that individuals would have theability to protect their freedom. It isn't about duck hunting or target shooting. Those are weak attempts to split the gun owning community; an incremental step in a strategy to ban private ownership of weapons. The founding fathers were quite clear in their intent. They wanted citizens to be able to defend themselves against ANY threat to their life or freedom; be it criminal, foreign invader or a GOVERNMENT that has abandoned the Constitution and slipped into tyranny.
